Company / Job Responsibilities
Our team, which consists of our branch office administrator and myself, provides our clients with complete wealth management services. We take time to understand what matters to our clients and why, building customized strategies to help them meet their goals, and partner together to ensure they stay on track. In addition to my financial services responsibilities, I work with my team to help them identify and develop their professional growth goals as they progress in ways that are meaningful to them in their careers. We seek to have a meaningful impact on our community through support of non-profits and serving with business organizations such as the Lebanon-Wilson Chamber of Commerce and Lebanon Rotary in various volunteer roles.

Major Barriers
In the context of Leadership Wilson involvement, I have been nominated (and even accepted) previously, but I focused first on raising my daughter and building a sustainable business as a new resident in Lebanon. I have known since I first started working in Lebanon that I wanted to participate with Leadership Wilson; this is the season for me to become involved and be able to commit to the process (Dorie, you are right as always about knowing when the time is right!). If I am accepted into the 2021 class, I will not be taking on any new volunteer responsibilities so that I can be fully engaged with Leadership, making the most of my participation in this opportunity to learn, connect, contribute, and grow.
Why Should You Be Selected To Participate
Although I have previously been accepted into the program, THIS is my time to be a fully engaged member of this cohort. I have done the preliminary work of making sure my work and volunteer schedule can accommodate this additional activity so I can be fully present and involved.
Expectations From/For Participation
Meeting like-minded leaders in our community, making new personal and professional connections, and learning more about the many facets of life in Wilson County are all goals of mine as part of my Leadership experience. Until this year, I felt like this was something I should do or would be good at/ benefit from, but it was always competing with the many other responsibilities on my plate. I have been systematically creating space in my work and personal schedule for this commitment- I just know that 2021 is my year, and I have the bandwidth to bring energy and commitment to my cohort.
Community Challenge / Issue / Goal
In 2014, when I was first getting to know the Lebanon area as my new workplace, I remember driving by the low-income housing neighborhoods thinking about those manicured lawn areas and their potential to become self-sustained food sources (i.e. community gardens). Having previously worked in high-poverty schools/ neighborhoods in my career with MNPS and knowing how much my students struggled with food insecurity and access to green spaces, in my head I had connected my heart for helping people out and helping people UP with my love of food, cooking, gardening. At the time, I only had the time and ability to help out with short-term feeding options like Compassionate Hands and food drives, but the vision for something... greater, more sustainable, more systemic... that hasn't left my heart. Fast forward to two years ago, when Ryan Bennett announced his vision for ending hunger in Wilson County... he didn't know exactly HOW that would happen, but he was bold to put it out there. That resonated back to my own vision as well... I think there is so much potential for teaching people HOW to grow food, cook, feed their families and not be totally dependent on others, and as far as I can tell, the programs don't exist yet to really address sustainable food sources, although our community has shown the will to care for and feed others. Lots of opportunity to add another level of depth to this issue, and I'd like to be involved in those conversations.
