Current Activities / Involvement

As a school leader, I attend County Commission meetings, School Board meetings, political meetings, and school/community events. I am an active member of The Glade Church in Gladeville, and serve in the children's ministry as a teacher.

Major Barriers

When I initially moved to Mt. Juliet, I was a teacher in Metro Nashville Public Schools. As a teacher in Davidson County, the majority of my attention and energy went into that community. After transitioning to Wilson County Schools, it took me some time to develop relationships and assess parts of the community where I could serve. Since being a school administrator (past 6 years) I have been able to lead in various areas of our community and am considered a leader amongst my peers. Leadership Wilson would allow me to broaden my knowledge of Wilson County as well as giving me the opportunity to highlight the profession I am so passionate about.

Community Challenge / Issue / Goal

As we grow at a rapid pace, there is the risk of losing the identity that brought people to Wilson County in the first place. Since schools can be the entry point into the community, I can be part of the gatekeeping process of teaching people what our community is all about and why it is a great place.

I expect to utilize my experience by continuing the relationships with my peers and becoming a champion for the progress of our county.
