Major Barriers

The main (past) barrier for me to be more involved in our local community was that I held a global executive position at a company +50 miles from my home in Lebanon so travel to/from work daily and business travel monthly made community commitment difficult.

I now own my own business and have both the time and desire to give back to this community.

Community Challenge / Issue / Goal

Economic development is both an opportunity and challenge for Wilson County. I've learned so much from being a member on the Lebanon Wilson Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. Growth in the Lebanon area has been, and will continue to be, a huge focus and opportunity for the local community. However, with growth comes challenges. As a human resources professional, I witnessed first hand the disconnect between "school" and "business"... the skills gap between what is being taught in our schools (from middle school through college) and the skills needed in our local businesses. I hope to provide solutions to the growing gap in soft skills and leadership skills that will provide better career opportunities for young adults just out of school and give a differentiating factor to our local businesses.

Participation Expectations

Learning about Wilson County and all it has to offer is exciting. This is a pivotal time for Wilson County with the continued economic growth and I'd like to serve our community in leadership and executive development. There's a two fold approach for my interest: first, I get the opportunity to learn about our wonderful county and second, I can provide insights and unique business experience to the other participants. I'd like to be able to help grow the organizations within Wilson County by serving them as both an executive coach and strategic business partner. Learning more about the activities in and around my hometown is absolutely essential to being a contributing resident and local business owner.
